(Hong Kong ‧ 11 May 2023) Are you an adventurous hiker or a nature lover? Whether you are a beginner or an experienced outdoor enthusiast, in Discovery Bay, a neighbourhood teeming with natural wonders and unexpected finds, you can always embrace nature, discover rare bird species and explore ecological spectacles. Discovery Bay is launching a new Nature Guidebook – A Breath of Discovery featuring four hiking trails that reveal ecological highlights, Instagrammable spots, and more. The guidebook will be available at DB Plaza concierge from 17 May, or you can visit https://www.visitdiscoverybay.com/en/the-destination/ to download a digital copy.

For experienced hikers who are looking for challenges, route 1 in the guidebook is definitely your target. Starting from Tung Chung, head to the top of the Tiger Head to get a panoramic view of Discovery Bay. Along the way you can enjoy all kinds of strangely shaped stones. This route is about 13 kilometers.

For those who are interested in historical heritage, you may pick route 2 starting from Mui Wo Pier and walking along the beach of Silver Mine Bay. After reaching the top, you will reach Our Lady of Joy Abbey (built in the 1950s by Catholic monks and was once known for producing Trappist Dairy milk products from their own dairy farm) for instagramable photos. For nature lovers, you may pick route 3 which is similar to route 2 but with adding the way to Discovery Bay Reservoir and Lookout Point. This route passes through a lush forest where you can observe fascinating species of birds, plants and other animals. If you want to take a relaxing trip with your family, you can choose route 4 from Discovery Bay Ferry Pier, follow the waterfront promenade to Tai Pak Beach to sunbathe, before heading for a leisurely stroll down the Shaded Tree Path on Discovery Bay Road to reach Central Park. Along the way, take some pictures of iconic landmarks such as The Pavillion, Love Lock Promenade, Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong, and the European-style plaza at DB North. This route is relatively easy to tackle, offering wide pathways suitable for all ages.

Join us for the hiking tour on 28 May (Sunday), guided by hiking expert and wildlife photographer Mr. James Kwok. The tour will take you from Mui Wo to Discovery Bay through Nim Shue Wan, with a 3-hour hike dedicated to bird and nature watching. If you are unable to join the tour, you are also welcome to enroll our social media photo contest. Submit your “A Breath of Discovery” Shot in Discovery Bay on or before 30 June to stand a chance to win prizes. Each winner will be awarded round-trip ferry tickets, a dessert set for two at Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong and HK$100 DB Cash Voucher.
