Brand New "Discovery Bay Art Walls" Unveiled
Three Giant Cat-and-Dog Themed Murals Jointly Created by Local Artists and Community Students

Building on the latest developments of the "DB 2.0" blueprint, Discovery Bay has introduced a series of pet-friendly initiatives and events since May 2025. These include the Discovery Bay Pet Bus service, the Pet Zone at the lawn outside DB Plaza, and various pet facilities and services. To build on this momentum, we are deeply honoured to collaborate with Art Dreamers to revitalise three murals at DB North Plaza. The creative inspiration for these murals is drawn directly from Discovery Bay's leisurely and pet-friendly environment.

Local Artists Bring Murals to Life with Cat and Dog Themes, Showcasing the Vibrancy of Discovery Bay’s Pet-Friendly Community

Art Dreamers, the creative team behind the famous "Project C — Cats in the Dreamy Rose Garden" mural in Yau Ma Tei, is dedicated to cultivating local culture, nurturing talent, and promoting sustainable art while connecting communities through cat and dog themes.

The artists participating in the creation of the Discovery Bay Art Walls (DB Art Walls) include: Mr. Gabriel Li, Chairman of The Hong Kong Society of Illustrator; Ms. Sylvia Yeh, Committee Member of The Hong Kong Society of Illustrator; Mr. Li Hok-fung, Senior Art Instructor, Art Dreamer (Creator of The Yau Ma Tei Cat Mural); and Ms. Kam Shing-yan, Mural and Stone Painting Artist. Centred on cat and dog themes, the four artists have infused the unique characteristics and elements of Discovery Bay into their creations, each bringing the vision to life through their distinct artistic styles.

Welcome to DB

The first mural “Welcome to DB” was created by Mr. Lee Hok-fung, a professional art instructor at Art Dreamers.

Standing at an impressive 7.5 metres tall, this giant mural features an adorable, playful cat waving to welcome passersby to Discovery Bay. Mr. Lee’s previous large-scale cat mural in Yau Ma Tei became a viral internet sensation, winning the hearts of the public with its remarkably lifelike craftsmanship.

The Happy Paw Bakery

The second mural “The Happy Paw Bakery” was created by mural and rock-painting artist Ms. Kam Shing-yan.

This mural features the portrait of a Shiba Inu blissfully squinting its eyes, lying completely relaxed outside a cozy café. The artwork perfectly captures Discovery Bay’s romantic European vibe and its welcoming, pet-friendly environment.

Location: Entrance of DB North Office Tower Two

DB Daily

The third mural “DB Daily” was created by Mr. Gabriel Li, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Illustrators, and Ms. Sylvia Yeh, a committee member of the Hong Kong Society of Illustrators.

This mural features 50 dogs and 50 cats going about their daily lives like regular Discovery Bay residents across various local landmarks—such as the Love Lock Promenade, the Pavilion, the Clock Tower at DB North, Tai Pak Beach, the D’Deck waterfront promenade, and the Discovery Bay Golf Club. From strolling along the boardwalks and dining at open-air plazas to sunbathing on the beach and playing ice hockey at the skating rink, Gabriel has seamlessly integrated 100 lively furry friends into Discovery Bay's most iconic spots. The artwork not only showcases the unique lifestyle of this integrated resort-style residential community, but also enhances interaction within the community and adds a touch of playful fun through the mural.

Location: DB North Plaza (Near Cinderella Adventure)

Engaging the Community: Co-Creating Murals with Local Students

To make the launch on 20 June even more meaningful, Discovery Bay invited Gabriel and Sylvia, alongside 11 students from SKH Wei Lun Primary School in Discovery Bay, to complete the murals together. On the same day, stone-painting workshops were held at the Toscana Sales Gallery and DB Plaza. Led by artist Ms. Kam Shing-yan, the workshops guided adults and children alike to unleash their creativity on stone canvases.

Ms. Charlotte Ho, General Manager - Branding and Marketing of Hong Kong Resort Company Limited, stated, "Discovery Bay has always been a dedicated supporter of local art and community engagement. Embracing the booming pet-loving trend in recent years, Discovery Bay has become a premier destination for pet owners and their furry companions, thanks to our vast outdoor spaces, pet-friendly community atmosphere, and comprehensive transport facilities. We are absolutely thrilled to collaborate with Art Dreamers to bring giant, pet-themed mural art into this welcoming community. Through this partnership, we aim to spark the public’s interest in art while creating a more cohesive and enriching lifestyle experience for our residents and visitors."
