Discover the Nature at Discovery Bay
HKR Collaborates with Wildlife Photographer James Kwok for Hiking Tour and Photo Contest<br>Explore Discovery Bay's Wildlife and Capture Unique Perspectives
(Hong Kong 4 Sep 2024) For nature photography enthusiasts, Hong Kong’s biodiversity and lush mountains offer valuable and abundant photographic subjects. Discovery Bay, located on the northeast coast of Lantau Island, is backed by Lo Fu Tau which rises over 400 metres. With 60% of the area being green space, Discovery Bay overlooks the picturesque Tai Pak Wan and Yi Pak Wan. An excellent way to discover the beauty of this area is to go on the nature trails, where you can admire the birds and ecological wonders, and immerse yourself in the unique outdoor ambiance of Discovery Bay. In October, Hong Kong Resort Company Limited (“HKR”) will collaborate with hiking expert and wildlife photographer James Kwok to organise an eco-tour at Discovery Bay and a photography competition. This initiative aims to encourage people to venture out of the concrete jungle and explore the countryside, learn about different species, and deepen their understanding of animals and their habitats, and raise awareness of conserving Hong Kong's precious biodiversity.

Discovery Bay Teams up with Renowned Wildlife Photographer James Kwok to Hold a Nature Photography Hiking Tour
HKR will organise a DB Nature Photography Hiking Tour on 13 October (Sunday), guided by wildlife photographer, James Kwok. The tour will start from Mui Wo Pier and make its way to Discovery Bay, passing through Silver Mine Bay to Our Lady of Joy Abbey (built in the 1950s by Catholic monks and was famous for producing Trappist Dairy milk products in their own dairy farm), then reach Discovery Bay via Nim Shue Wan. The three-hour tour will focus on bird-watching and learning about the natural ecology. Along the way, you can spot a variety of butterflies and birds, including the Plain Tiger, the Greenish Palm Dart, the Scaly-breasted Munia, and many more. James will share tips on bird-watching and techniques on capturing the natural beauty and ecology through the lens. Joining the tour will be eco-influencer and former landscape designer Melody Cheng, who will join everyone to connect with nature through photography and the guided activities. This event is perfect for nature lovers who want to learn more about nature photography skills and Hong Kong’s ecology. Each participant will receive a DB Nature Guidebook, a DB ferry coupon, a limited-edition shopping bag, and one Eternity Pencil (total valued at HK$200).
